WASHINGTON, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- The United States Soccer Federation announced Sunday that its men's national team will play a friendly against El Salvador on December 9 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, which will be just the fourth match this year for the team.
"Playing against El Salvador gives us an opportunity to face a CONCACAF opponent that we haven't seen yet and will be a valuable experience," head coach Gregg Berhalter said. "We want to build on this year's work while continuing to evaluate the player pool as we head into a busy 2021."
The Americans returned to the field this month for the first time since March with a 0-0 draw against Wales and a 6-2 win over Panama, using mostly Europe-based players.
Local media said the roster against El Salvador will be drawn primarily from players competing in Major League Soccer.
