The Montreal Impact announced a two-year extension Monday for Honduran forward Romell Quioto.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal includes a team option for 2023.

Quioto, 29, led the Impact in goals (eight) and assists (six) in 19 games during the 2020 MLS regular season. He added a goal in a 2-1 loss to the New England Revolution during the MLS Cup playoffs on Nov. 20.

"We are happy to announce this contract extension for Romell, because it was important that he stayed with us," said Montreal Impact sporting director Olivier Renard. "All year long he has proved his value on the pitch through his performances, but also with his winning and leader mentality. That's the fruit of his labor, now it's up to him to continue that work in order to achieve the club's goals in the years to come."

Quioto played his first three MLS seasons with the Houston Dynamo, tallying 15 goals and 17 assists in 72 games from 2017-19.
