Xinhua president meets with guests from Brazil, Nicaragua

BEIJING, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- President of Xinhua News Agency Fu Hua held separate meetings in Beijing on Tuesday with Alexandre Padilha, Brazil's health minister, and Maurice Ortega Murillo, director of Nicaragua's Channel 13.

During the meeting with Padilha, Fu said Xinhua is willing to deepen cooperation with Brazil's Health Ministry and publish good stories about Brazil's development and China-Brazil cooperation.

Fu called on the two sides to jointly promote the improvement of the global governance system, break the monopoly of Western discourse, and strengthen close collaboration within multilateral frameworks.

Congratulating China on its achievements in the health sector, Padilha expressed hope that Xinhua, as a globally influential media organization, would disseminate accurate and reliable information to boost global audiences' awareness of scientific knowledge and real-world practices in the health sector.

During the meeting with Ortega, Fu noted that a Xinhua team quickly traveled to Nicaragua to carry out reporting and media cooperation after China and Nicaragua restored diplomatic relations in 2021.

He said Xinhua stands ready to expand exchanges with Nicaragua's media organizations in areas such as personnel visits, professional training, joint reporting and program production, fully leveraging the media's role as witness, recorder and promoter of the development of bilateral ties.

Hailing Xinhua's important contributions to promoting media exchanges and bilateral relations between Nicaragua and China, Ortega said Nicaragua's media frequently carry news sourced from Xinhua, which helps foster mutual understanding and goodwill between the two peoples.
